When I was introduced to anime, Chobits was among the first few that I watched. But I didn't manage to complete the whole series at first. As I wanted to participate in the Group Cosplay Competition for C2Age 2012 with my cosplay partner Yue, we search for a series we could cosplay from and decided on Chobits.
We got the costume on Taobao and as per usual, I got the costume altered at a local tailor. With some minor adjustments here and there, the ensemble was complete and we took stage. We were delighted to have been able to win first place in the competition. We wore the costume again for AFAMY 2012, and throughout the whole event, we were hugging onto our trailing skirt. Longs skirts are not crowd friendly. Plus, they'd be cleaning the floors of the event area.
We had a photoshoot for the cosplay, but I personally wasn't too happy of the images. I had disagreements with the photographer throughout the shoot. I ended up following the photographer's instructions to get the shoot over and done with. Hence, I wasn't able to bring out Chii's personality like I hoped I would. In a way, it made me pickier with photographers. Remember, always work with someone who understands the series, as well as being willing to give and take opinions.
It is kind of sad that was the outcome for this character. If I ever had the chance, I would definitely cosplay this dear persocom again.
